The west window in the living room. The old truck that isn't running, is being used for a garbage dumpster. The car behind it, has been there for almost 2 weeks now. The shades for this particular window, are usually closed for a reason.

A house across the street that is in the process of being renovated. My 1994 Chrysler Concorde. She is my mecha-car and I've renamed her, Battle Angel. She is uber cool, fast, well maintained, and is my mecha-baby.

The front window facing the street. 11th Street, in this area is considered "a historic street", at least that is what the sign says. This city is celebrating a Sesquicentennial, 150 years of being considered a "city"!!!! Approximately 2 blocks away is Glur's Tavern, to the west, on the left of this picture's view. I hear they have great hamburgers. There are also other stores and businesses not too far away, also on this street.

The back yard area. Notice the canine friends at their hang out. After I took this photo, the little white pooch, which looks a bit like a Scottish Terrier, came and stared at me. I shall name them, The Three Stooges Pooches. They are excellent guard dogs!

The area map and information booth at the nature trail. There is also a bike trail that runs through this area. Not too sure if this bike trail, extends from the north side to the south side of town, connecting this area, to the Pawnee Park area by the Platte River.

Finally, here's the name of the bridge. Now the yellow concrete pole is most likely to deter ATV, motorcyle, or small car use on the bridge. Amusing isn't it? That is a reminder of the time when passing by the DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge at Missouri Valley, Iowa. There is a sign on the highway that states something similar to this "No shooting of wildlife from vehicles on the highway ." So apparently there has been incidents of people shooting flying geese from their cars or truck. That is a sad reminder of irresponsible people giving a bad name to otherwise, safety oriented hunters who supplement their diets with wild game and fowl. There have also been cases, mentioned to me by a co-worker who lives near the Platte River, in which people use wild deer as target practice. There are those who help feed their families through hunting, but generally these are all people who have respect for guns, rifles and for wild game and nature itself. Some individuals in these rural areas shoot and maim family pets, and have absolutely no respect for animals whatsoever, wild or domesticated. That being said, there are kind, generous people here that have animal shelters for canines, felines, and those who take care of, nurture back to health, injured or abandoned wild animals. They then return them back to their environment when they're healed or old enough to take care of themselves. There is and always will be the light to bring balance to the dark aspects of human nature. When out the nature area today, there was a raccoon by a large tree laying on its side, its little spirit recently gone off into the eternal river. There was no blood so maybe the elements, sickness or old age brought the infinite sleep to this little one. Dream on my little friend.

In the background are geese and perhaps other waterfowl lounging, relaxing and "talking" with each other. Communicating sans words.

There are other styles of photos to be taken when the weather permits, so this site won't be completely nature scenes. More photos will appear eventually, so please be patient with this amateur photographer.

Perousing through other sites, there seems to be a tendency in those with more financial flexibility, to indicate that not using an expensive camera with all of the necessary accesories, filters, lenses, gadgets etc., seems to imply that the photos seen here are somehow less aesthetically pleasing? Not so. However that is only a matter of personal opinion. Ce la vie!

The branches of this particular tree was intriguing. From this photo, one can't really see the dark reddish coloration of the branches and bark.
The photo was taken at Pawnee Park.
Most of the young saplings in this area are planted and dedicated to loved ones who have passed on. What a glorious yet ironically somber tribute for those family members who keep their loved ones alive in their hearts. A tree is a marvelous choice indeed.
Some names were recognized by this amateur photographer, so here is my tribute to those alive, those passed on, those to come.

This cute little squirrel friend was a bit far up the tree so optical zoom with an optical image stabilizer was used. The photo was taken at Pawnee Park. The camera used for all photos on this site is a Panasonic Lumix DC Vario with 6x optical zoom, 4x digital zoom, 5.0 megapixels. The main advantage of this particular model is that it utilizes an approximately 2x2 inch lcd monitor, to view the image, therefore it is much easier to determine what the image will probably look like when the image is captured.

This bridge is interesting because the metal used in its construction was allowed to oxidize. It evokes a weathered rustic look and blends in well with the natural scenery. This photo was taken within the same area as the nature trail north of town.
